Regarding Antigone
May 1st – August 31st, 2025 @ Montreal & Toronto Fringe Festivals, 2025

Inspired by a true story, and inspired by the classic greek tragedy of Antigone, and inspired by war photography, and inspired by my weak memory, and inspired by a revolution, and inspired by state propaganda, and inspired by a song she sang, and inspired by cringe diaspora poetry, and-
A short solo play, Regarding Antigone explores survival, witnessing, complicity, and solidarity in the face of ongoing state violence. Rooted in the playwright's own experiences as an Iranian immigrant, the play shifts between warmth and stark suffering, creating a deceptively simple and sparse piece that challenges audiences to examine their role as witnesses. In the absence of clear solutions, this co-production between The Sky is the Limit Theatre and Sort of Productions interrogates the norms of spectatorship and asks: why are you just watching me die?
